Plant Lovers Wanted - Our staff are life-long gardeners.  They love plants and are very knowledgeable.  They enjoy talking about plants and are happy to answer your questions.

Highest Quality and Locally Grown - We searched the Valley to find the best growers with the most interesting plants.  Unlike "big box" stores who ship plants from across the country, we buy from nurseries located near us.  As a result the plants are hardier, acclimated to local growing conditions, and will thrive in your garden.

When their youngest son left for college, John & Faith Vosburgh were not content to stay in the now "empty nest".   After 18 years in the Washington DC suburbs they decided it was time to shift gears.  Eager to trade endless traffic jams for winding country roads and strip malls for bucolic farms - they went on a search.  And incredible as it may seem, they found what they were looking for in Lexington, Virginia and the surrounding Rockbridge County.

The Potting Shed is our creation and personal statement.  It combines Faith's passion and knowledge of gardening with John's experience running a small business.  We have not really slowed down - the work days are longer and the weekends seem to be nonexistent.  But the dark bags under the eyes and the calluses on the hands are a small price to pay for the sense of satisfaction derived from being part of a small, vibrant community.
